Black Ring is a family-operated Ohio business that is built on the foundational knowledge of three generations of firearms and ammunition loading enthusiasts. We invest the time and testing to develop combinations of carefully selected components for top performance, inspect each round by hand, and test every lot to deliver consistent ammunition to you, our customer. Black Ring offers ammunition choices designed for practice time at the range, serious matches, game hunting, and suppressed firearms.
HOW WE GOT HERE
What began with reloading as a practical way to spend more time at the range grew into a passion for understanding ammunition. We wanted to know how different components work together, what creates consistency, and how small changes can make a noticeable difference downrange.
That passion has now carried through three generations of ammunition loaders and shooters. Along the way, we have taken what we learned at the loading bench to the range and into competition, including USPSA and SCSA.
HOW WE DO IT
Our process starts with the components. Rather than limiting ourselves to a single manufacturer, we test products from most major component brands to determine which combination delivers the best performance and value for each load’s intended purpose. Our goal is not simply to use the cheapest or most expensive component; it is to find the combination that gives you the most performance for your hard earned dollar.
Quality control begins before production. Incoming component lots are inspected and tested before loading, and ammunition is regularly sampled throughout each production run. Once loaded, every completed round is chamber checked and visually inspected by hand before packaging.
We verify performance using lab grade chronographs to ensure our ammunition performs as advertised. For loads where accuracy is especially important, we conduct additional testing using equipment such as Ransom Rests. From component selection through final inspection, every step is focused on producing consistent ammunition at a price that lets you spend more time shooting.
WHY WE DO IT
Black Ring started because we were tired of paying premium prices for ammunition that delivered disappointing results downrange. We saw loads compromised by poor component combinations, dirty burning powders, and manufacturers limiting themselves to their own components rather than choosing what actually performed best.
We decided to take a different approach. Every Black Ring load starts with a purpose, and we select the components that best accomplish that goal.
Our 300 Blackout ammunition is developed with clean, consistent performance in mind, especially when shooting suppressed. Our 147 grain 9mm was crafted specifically for competition use while also performing exceptionally well through suppressed pistols, allowing shooters to get the most out of their suppressor.
